Ambitious project goals
Near the city centre of Bulgaria’s capital Sofia, the investor Raiffeisen Property Management Bulgaria Ltd. created the office complex “Expo 2000”. The first phase of the project was already finished in 2005, the fourth and final one in autumn 2017. As great focus was put on energy saving measures, the attractive building named “Phase IV” with a total lettable area of 12,000 m2 employs the latest technologies.
Thus, all common areas of the building situated above ground are equipped with LED technology. As partner for safety and escape route lighting, the construction company chose the local provider Alfa Light Ltd. The company’s well-known reliable support, the delivery of high quality luminaires and a competitive project offer were decisive factors for awarding the contract.
State-of-the-art LED lighting
When it comes to safety lighting, Alfa Light Ltd. cooperates with the German experts from RP-Technik GmbH. Their products provide excellent quality and convincing technical parameters. The scope of supply comprised almost 330 LED rescue signs of the types KXU, KBU and KMU as well as 140 LED emergency route luminaires of the types ILER, ILEF and ILDF. The modular plastic safety lights are suited for universal usage, easy to mount and equipped with a complete set of pictograms.
The IL-type luminaires have a modern design and are available with four different lenses adapting to the required light distribution. Energy supply is ensured by the central battery system (CBS) midiControl plus MD132, which can control up to 32 free programmable circuits and 640 connected luminaires. Delivery is completed by 15 main circuit modules DCM42 and 18 maintenance-free OGiV batteries for covering an emergency case.
Based on the good relationship with the electrical installation companies, Alfa Light Ltd. commissioned the safety lighting system without any difficulties. The entire system is centrally operated with the CBS panel and, due to the built-in web interface with visualization software, can also be monitored easily from any networked computer. As the LED safety lighting provides smooth handling and considerably contributes to the energy efficiency of the office complex,
the investors are very satisfied with the performance of the installation as well as the continuous support by Alfa Light Ltd. Considering the project’s ambitious goals, it is a huge achievement that in December 2017 „Expo 2000“ became the award winner in the national contest ‘Building of the Year’ in the category „Office and Corporate Building“ and also received a prize for „Green office building“. Conclusion: LED lighting really makes a difference!
